A Year In Review

Happy New Year everyone!  I hope you all had a safe and happy holiday season.  On my end all is well and I am very happy at how the year wrapped up poker wise.  I hit a little downswing on 12/30, but ended the year on an upswing on new years eve.  

This year was my best year of poker since I started playing in early 2007- both live and online.  It also happens to be the year that I put the least amount of Live play in.  I probably played less than 75 hours total since my work schedule was so varied.  But the times I did get to play, I was focused and ready to play my best.  I've put in so many hours this year studying and learning and it is paying off.  This is just the beginning of my journey and I look forward to the year that lies ahead of me.  

Approximate live winnings-  $2000 over probably 15 sessions

Approximate online winnings (including rakeback)- $900 since 9/2/2012
ROI: 7.5%

Goals for 2013:
Increase volume: 400-500 games/month
ROI: above 4%
Become a reg at the $56s

The volume goal might be tough because of Carbon traffic, but I'll try my best to get in as much as I can on the days that I play.

Still Doing Well

What's up everyone.  Since my last post a few weeks ago, I've continue to play (run) well.  I don't think I've put in a losing session since, even if its been only by a dollar or so.  Today I put in 43 games, which is pretty good for the traffic on Carbon.  A little tangent- merge traffic has declined since Black Chip left merge and went to WPN.  Merge still has more players than WPN for now, so that's where I'll stay.

Back to today's play.  I put in some games when I was on my lunch break at work and got the rest in tonight before I get to sleep.  I'm +243 on the day and have a 28.2% roi- good life lmao.

Crushed Today

I played a quick 1.5 hour session before I had to go to sleep for work tomorrow and only ended up getting 12 games in (damn slow traffic on Carbon!).  I went 10 for 12, so that makes for a great night.

Some numbers:

ROI: 60.1%
Winnings: $145.6

Super unrealistic roi, so I'm gonna sleep on it and enjoy it while I can.  

This is all training/preparation for when poker (hopefully) comes back to the US.  When that time comes, I want to be ready to dive in head first.  Good night!

December 5th 2012 Update

Hey what's up everybody?  It's been a while!  After my last post I picked up some clients at work that I had to train at 630am so it threw off my playing for a while.  I didn't have the energy/focus to stay home and play online, so I ended up playing live quite a bit.  I played almost exclusively 1/2, but also a 5/5 that my boy StevoNutz runs.  I was running hot for a bit- up about +1k in 4 or 5 sessions, then the last time I played (about 3 weeks ago) I took a 300 loss so I ended up +700.  I would keep playing these games, but the rake is really too high to play that often.  Also, I like sleep a lot more than I like playing poker with a bunch of creeps in bars/back rooms, haha.  So now I'm trying to get more games in online again since I don't have to wake up at 530am anymore.  

The past few sessions online have been great.  I left the $4s and moved up to the 15s-28s.  I honestly feel that I can hang at that level.  So even though my roll on Carbon technically isn't enough to play them, I decided to take a shot.  I got the OK from jackstack99 also when I asked him if it was worth the risk to move up, and that helped my confidence a bit.  Speaking of jackstack, he just recently reached Super Nova Elite on stars!  That's awesome!  The more he does in poker, the more it inspires me to keep grinding away.  Keep up the great work Jack!

Pulled in a Win

Short post tonight because I'm really tired and I just finished playing for the night.  I finally pulled in a winning session since I started playing again.  I went on a mean tilt around game # 20, but pulled it together to keep the session positive. 

110 Games In

After tonights session, I'm at a total of 110 games in the $4 HU hypers.  My job gets me so exhausted that by the end of the day I don't have the energy to focus for long periods of time and play, so I've been just getting in some games this week where I could.  I didn't play well tonight, had my first -ev session this month.  Gotta refocus and get back on track.  Here's a graph from the beginning of this HU hyper journey:

I know this isn't enough games to say this yet, but it looks like I'm at least doing some things right since my ev is near break even.  It's been a tough adjustment from the $11 turbos I used to play.  I was at about 9% roi over 400-500 games, so I was making a good amount at that level, but the big action is in the hypers and I have to start somewhere.  Hopefully this turns around a little bit before my Carbon account runs out of funds, lol.  

Well I'm off to go dominate a peanut butter and jelly sandwich, then I have to fast and get some blood work done tomorrow.  Sometime this week I'll get into more detail about that, but I'm sleepy right now.  Later homies.
